Today I love early morning alarms that get me up and going and let me experience the quiet part of the day that I usually miss. I love that I got to the pool last night even though it was only for twenty minutes, I love that I can swim faster than a meter a second when I’m feeling okay, and that last night I was able to do a meter a second for one length at a time. I love that the pool is great but the best part of it is that it reminds me that I have a place to swim in summer where I can get up in the morning and just throw myself into the bay if I so choose. I love that we are having serious weather here but I still made it to my Wednesday office. I love that I get to live here where the Winter tells stories of adventure and challenge and the Summer tells stories of adventure and fun and they try to outdo each other. I love that I can see me in so many of those stories, staring roles. I love that my city plays well in snow and in sunshine, that my community knows how to get through the days and wind up with successes in its pockets. I love that I live where I live, what a joyful stroke of luck for me.
Today I love big plans for a new TV show episode tomorrow. I love that this Sunday’s radio show is recorded and proofed, and just needs to be segmented and transferred to the station for broadcasting. I love making things for people to read and watch and listen to, songs, stories, shows and posts. I love that this is my creative niche, to contrive words and sounds and images to entertain and inform. I love today’s technology that lets me do so much of this on my own with a minimum of gear. I love working with my mind … and my mouth.
Today I love strawberries and kiwis in the oatmeal. I love the morning moon shining through misty clouds. I love the diamond sparkle of cold hard snow, the rainbow of colors it flashes at me when I move slowly while I watch it. I love that I get to play in the snow when I have the opportunity to. I love that sometimes playing in the snow involves moving it out of the way. I love the smell of the outside world in winter when I’m all bundled up and ready to stay in the chilly rich air out there.
Today I love sipping coffee and writing while I watch the wide white world of snow sit settled and quiet and waiting for the coming rain.
