Today I Love The Serene Quiet Of This Day

garden path
Still heat in the ground …

Today I love the serene quiet of this day of misty grey skies and cool, chilling, motionless air. I love that the freshness outside the front door makes me thankful for my hand made sweater. I love that I have four sweaters that have been made just for me. I love that there is a break in the freezing temperatures and I love that that’s okay because it isn’t actually winter yet. I love that the ground is still holding some heat and that the driveway out front and the pathway out back are bare because of that. I love that this weekend is supposed to be warmer than it has been for several weeks now. I love that even though I’m huddled in the house and wrapped in a sweater, I have a job to do at the TV studio today and I think it would be good for me to get out of the house so I’m going to do that job. I love that I am feeling about as good as I did yesterday when I wrote my offering for this blog, though I got feeling much worse as yesterday progressed, ’cause that means I’m feeling better now than I felt last night and I think I’m on the mend.

Today I love that I think more about relaxing than I actually relax, but that it occurred to me that I find thinking about relaxing to be relaxing in a way so I’m actually relaxing a bit when I think about taking time to read a book or go on walks or maybe nap. I love that I hardly ever nap, but I always think I’d like to. I love that when I try to nap all I do is think about things that I should be doing and then I have to get up and do them.

Today I love apple and raisin oatmeal. I love the way my head feels thick and heavy but like it’s coming around and on the mend. I love that I went to sleep like someone flipped a switch in my brain last night. I love that we have a Santa hat on the top of our tree. I love that our tree is decorated with many origami things and many of them were made by us. I love music that warms the heart and holds the mind focused on good thoughts. I love being here now.

Today I love drinking coffee and the soothing way it warms my throat while I stand by the window in my big old home made sweater and admire the pathway’s selective melting.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
