Today I love curling with friends on teams that we’ve gathered with the intention of just having fun. I love that half my team is rather newish and the other half is even newer to the sport of curling. I love that we don’t have even six years of experience between the four of us. I love that for this one day experience doesn’t matter, and in fact the lack thereof makes it even more fun. I love that we are simply throwing rocks for the fun of the game and the score will only matter for the moment and that moment will pass as soon as we walk off the ice. I love that even when we’re still on the ice I won’t care whether we win or lose. I love that my team of friends are all good people. I love that I’m bringing a musician to curl with us and he doesn’t curl normally and says he’s only done it twice before. I love that he has nothing to prove because the things he does do here in our community are done so very well, so my hope is that he just has himself a good day of fun. I love that after attending a presentation of The Messiah that he conducted last night, I feel like it’s my turn to pay him back with a good day.
Today I love old friends that reach out and remind me that the world is full of three kinds of acquaintances, friends you haven’t met yet, friends you currently have, and friends that you used to spend time with. I love when someone comes back around into my life after we’ve drifted apart and we just restart like there has been no time gone by. I love watching old friends and new ones interact especially when they realize that the reason they are my friend is going to be the same reason they should be friends. I love sharing my friends with each other, it always makes things better than they were and if things are already good, imagine what better could be like.
Today I love that my Jade plant is blooming and almost everyone, including me, is saying, “They do that???” I love how delicate the flowers are, and how they remind me of when the hoya plant blooms because even though they look very dissimilar, the size and color of individual blooms is quite similar indeed. I love that my home is getting homier and more organized each passing day. I love that yesterday we suddenly just exploded the counter tops in the kitchen, shook everything up and moved it all around and now things work so much better.
Today I love sipping coffee and admiring my blooming jade plant.
