Today I Love How Everything Fits

coffee on table in sunlight
Hey, hey, it’s a sunny day

Today I love how everything fits in to the time we have for it. I love that we sometimes compromise on what we’re planning to do but never without reasons that make sense, at least at the time that we make the compromises. I love that we were planning on spending the weekend at the cottage but we got waylaid by obligations from prior commitments and offers of better engagements, so we are now looking forward to visiting the cottage today and making plans for a longer time or even a whole or long weekend at the cottage sometime soon. I love that this year we are talking Christmas tree and we’re talking the real thing and where we’ll put it and what we’ll do for decorations. I love that there are sales on tree lights already and I may just have to pounce on that stuff. I love that I now feel like I need to be clearing up clutter and straightening things out in order to have the place ready for decorating when the time comes. I love that just the thought of having a Christmas tree has already started my mind churning out old memories of the fifty nine other Christmases I’ve experienced. I love that I’m a little bit excited already even though I know I’m going to be grumpy soon enough about the music they’ll be playing in stores soon.

Today I love that we’re off to the pool soon because we’re trying to keep me in shape for curling and life in general. I love how warm the sun is today. I love that as it rose higher in the late morning sky and eventually stopped shining on me, I missed its lovely warmth and was a little sad to see it go, because that made me realize I was enjoying its presence. I love watching it trace its way across the floor to the east facing patio door … and then leave. I love that the sunlight always knows it is welcome here and seems to be happy to return, love that as it exits out the door to the east it starts making plans to reenter the house through the door and windows on the west side.

Today I love breakfast made from yesterday’s market purchases. I love that there are lots of eggs, gifts from friends, and lots of bacon and bread and veggies. I love that it is easy to enjoy the little things in life if you take a moment to acknowledge them. I love living a life with good friends in it.

Today I love drinking coffee in the sunlight while I contemplate getting ready for the pool.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
