Today I Love Determined Attitudes

leaves on the street
Waiting for the music to start …

Today I love determined attitudes. I love tenacious people. I love grumpy people who know they are grumpy but have other things to deal with and are okay with their grumpiness ’cause they are going to get things done, dammit! I love people who work hard at what they do and even when it drags them down they just keep going because it is their work and they are the ones who can do it when very few others actually can. I love people who do unique jobs and do them well even if those jobs seem to be thankless. I love that I truly am thankful for all these people who work hard and do what they need to do. I love these people, all the determined and tenacious ones who do the seemingly thankless tasks that appear to go unnoticed, they are my role models and I love that I aspire to be like these resolute and unwavering souls, love that I follow them and learn from them. You go, you enduring ones you!

Today I love that I am once again in my Wednesday office; where does a week go, eh? I love that the weather is autumnal but not wintry yet, love the hissing and shushing of traffic on the rain splattered roads. I love that they seem to be telling the world to be quiet even while they are making the most noise. I love that the sky is a vault of clouds that are tumbled and broken with blotches of blue sky and bolts of sunlight stabbing through to the street to highlight different buildings and different parts of the street as they sweep by. I love the colors of autumn flowers in pots, love the rusts and golds and flaming reds of this time of year. I love the dancing of the loose leaves when they break free of the damp ground and waltz and polka while listening to the music of the wind as they skitter wildly and passionately around the town. I love how easy it is to love the seasons for their strengths and forgive them their weaknesses when you understand that their time is a gift that we receive while we are alive.

Today I love shredded wheat Muffets for breakfast when I’m in a rush. I love big lunches all packed for the road. I love plans that flex and fit while we rework our ideas of perfect days and aspirations. I love cold cereal as snacks and will enjoy that again when the Halloween candy runs out.

Today I love drinking coffee in my Wednesday office while the leaves lie waiting for the maestro wind to call the next tune.

Today I Love Determined Attitudes

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
