Today I Love Spontaneous Musical Collaboration

guitar, piano
Mmmmmm, music!

Today I love spontaneous musical collaboration and the way it can just suddenly happen. I love that my friend Kati Gleiser walked in to the open mic yesterday and just after I began playing one of my songs she sat down at the piano and started playing along, a song I’m fairly certain she’s never heard before and she was playing the melody perfectly and adding amazing harmony as well. I love that in my small little town an internationally known and acclaimed concert pianist could just happen by and join in at an open mic and I really love that it happened when I was playing one of my originals. I love that we have such a treasure here on earth as Kati Gleiser and that she has chosen to be here in our town at this time. I love that she shares her work as Ke Nova and I love that she feels for the world and for its pain, but continues to express joy at living. I love that the expression of her feelings for the world and her joy is obvious in her music. I love the music of Kati Gleiser and of all the people who come play music at the open mic. I love the poetry of those who write poems and songs for us to hear and I love when they bring those gifts to us. I love how the piano often spontaneously starts being played in my home.

Today I love that my friend Jon found himself to be a grown up today, don’t worry Jon, it’s an affliction that goes away when you stop thinking about it. 😉 I love that I have such good friends in this world, love that they are everywhere and that they each offer something to this world and to their surroundings that makes it a better place. I love that Joshua is an ancient 38 today. I love that we will be gathering with friends today and that there will be laughter and more music because, quite frankly, it is time for that.

Today I love questionable plans for Caesar Salads. I love rain when the sun is shining. I love bread and breakfast from the market. I love that, in the big picture, since we are hurtling through space, we are never in the same exact place twice and that means we are always moving, and if you face the direction you are moving then you are moving forward and so we are all moving forward at least some of the time of our lives.

Today I love drinking coffee with memories of music and plans for friends and hopes for good things for this world of ours as it hurtles through space to its and our destiny.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
