Today I love pink fire and grey ice and the promise of temps back up in the fifties tomorrow. I love that last year at this time we were still swimming in the bay and last night we got snow. I love that there is no way of knowing what is coming next because I hate being bored. I love that there is video of us in the bay on the 22nd of October and that because we’d owned our cottage for less than two months at that time we were stretching out the season as much as we could. I love that cottage a lot, it has become the symbol of most of our weekends. I love that we have a routine where we often head there on Saturdays after the rush to cottage country is over and return home on Mondays when everyone is already back at work. I love making the drive through the land that I grew up in, through Kemble and past my old home and my grandparents farm and all my relatives places, through East Linton and through Big Bay or by Lake Charles and Oxenden. I love that there are four or more ways to get there that are all good ways for one reason or another. I love that though we can’t go for the whole weekend coming up, I’ll still be there in my heart.
Today I love all the jokes about marijuana legalization going around. I love the cartoon with the mailman from Canada Post being referred to as “your dealer” even though that’s mostly only in Ontario. I love that I wrote a fictional news story bit about a news reporting organization in Canada doing a story on smoking marijuana and I think it’s pretty funny. I love that there has been a conversation here in the house about possibly growing some plants because they are great house plants, but that the conversation kind of ended with the realization that we kill houseplants here and that our friends might actually just keep cutting chunks of them off and slipping away with them.
Today I love tropical fruit oatmeal with strawberries, mangoes, and peaches. I love Wii golf on chilly evenings. I love date night. I love the pictures that the newest “Today I Love …” poster in my life has been posting. I love that everyone who writes “Today I Love …” posts has there own take on what is worth loving and I love how easy it is to see and realize that what they love is truly worthy of love from them and from me.
Today I love sipping my coffee in the fiery light of an icy dawn.
