Today I love clearing skies and cooling air. I love that this afternoon will be a lovely, crisp, cool autumn day. I love that the leaves have started skittering around, quietly making plans with one and other to gather together for their going away parties. I love that they will whirl and dance to music they can hear but we can only dream about. I love the way they rattle and clatter, the way they scramble across the street in front of the car or the truck, the way that they laugh it off and continue on when I run them over, how magnificently resilient they are. I love that the leaves still on the trees are mostly green but clearly starting to blush with the excitement of the coming parties and dances. I love that from my seat on the front porch Thursday office settee I can clearly see bright yellow school buses chasing leaves from one pick up spot to the next. I love the way children kick leaves and I love that I am still a child at heart because I kick leaves the same way. I love that I am looking forward to swaths and windrows of leaves on sidewalks and trails so that I can go outside with the sole intention of walking those sidewalks and trails and kicking through those deep, long piles of leaves.
Today I love that I got my play logs caught up and now my boss knows what songs I played on the radio. I love that I was able to modify the play log spreadsheet so that the headers were always displayed. I love that there are still a few things I learned in college that are useful. 😉 I love figuring things out and making them work. I love that I have work to do for my other boss that should help keep the news website working well. I love that I also get a chance to play with a fake version of the real site ’cause that lets me try things out without worrying about bringing the site crashing down.
Today I love my poncho sweater because it’s definitely sweater weather now. I love that I still haven’t given up on going swimming in the bay. I love that I have to take the dock out at the cottage and that might be the day that that swimming thing happens. I love that there is a good chance that I will either be swimming in the local pool or curling at the local rink tonight.
Today I love slowly sipping good coffee on the front porch office couch while the sky clears and the temperature cools those crazy leaves down.
