Today I love these last few Summer hours and their lovely program called “Homage To Autumn” complete with chilling temperatures and sparkling sunshine.I love that tomorrow is the first full day of Autumn. I love that we registered for curling last night. I love that the market was so lively this morning with lots of plaid everywhere and smiling faces and laughter and cheer. I love the sounds of this city, rumbling through its day downtown, shushing winds blowing through the tree tops, heavy equipment in the distance, children laughing. I love old friends talking in past tenses, new friends talking in present tenses, young people thinking in future tenses and all of it read easily in sparkling eyes and smiles. I love how much brighter life seems when the air is colder. I love that I breath easier in cooler air. I love that it makes me laugh to see the look on peoples faces when I drive around in the snowy cold winter with my windows down. I love how keeping the truck cab as cold inside as it is outside means that the windows don’t frost up. I love that it is still summer and I’m here talking about winter in glowing terms.
Today I love that I will still likely go swimming in the bay before the season is over. I love that the bay in September is as warm or warmer than the bay in July. I love that I have gotten possession of my grandfathers old parlor wood burning stove, a tiny little thing that I hope to install in the bunkie at the cottage. I love that all its parts are there except for the lid lifter, and with any luck I can find a little one somewhere that will fit it. I love that I know a young man who might be able to make me one if I cannot find one.
Today I love breakfast sandwiches at the market. I love that I am getting through this course of antibiotics, though I still have several weeks to go yet. I love that I am eating yogurt as a bedtime snack to help keep my stomach from being too upset and over worked. I love little flowers with stunning colors that happen to decide to bloom in the end of summer. I love people who are okay with me being really lousy at remembering names.
Today I love drinking coffee on the front porch in the cool of Summer’s last few hours.
