Today I love new days that take the place of hard nights. I love that, although I had a rough night I did actually get a fair bit of sleep. I love that this day started with coffee in bed and then moved on to breakfast at the farmers’ market and soon it will be time to roll that dragon boat to its winter home, so things are getting done and that’s just great. I love that I got to do extra work on the owensoundhub.org yesterday and that I was also able to write all my columns and still make dinner and do the open mic. I love that even though my antibiotics seem to be knocking me right off my game as far as feeling okay is concerned I am still able to function enough to get much of my to do list done. I love the feeling of accomplishing things and I love it even more when those things are made more of a challenge by situations beyond anyone’s control and still I succeed.I love that I have no qualms about towing a huge long dragon boat down a highway or hauling it through the city to the boat launch. I love that it just barely fits in our driveway, and I will love having our driveway back after spending a summer with that trailer taking up three and a half spaces.
I love the way people make efforts to look after friends. I love that some people just naturally step in to roles as caretakers and make and take the time to learn what they need to know to help. I love that I know so many people like that. I love that these people are the ones who see beyond the problems others have and see the value they bring. I love that they recognize that the investment in caring for someone is always valid.
Today I love Autumn and the bittersweet taste of the whine that seems to invariably come with it … ha ha. I love how funny it is that people grumble about the weather as if it was personal when in fact Autumn neither knows nor cares about our existence. I love that we survive. I love being challenged by the weather, stepping into the cold and the snow and ice and doing the things that need doing, and so I love living through autumn, the coming of that weather, and winter, the slow and drawn out “meat” of it, and spring in all its glorious transition from snow and ice to warm and nice.
Today I love drinking coffee and eating market breakfast and then getting ready to haul a dragon to its winter home.
