Today I Love The Joy Of Being On Holidays

Yay, holiday coffee!!!

Today I love the joy of being on holidays and especially of starting in the middle of the week. I love that I was going to call this post “Today I Love The Holiday Spirit” but realized that’s some months away, ha ha. I love that I am as busy today on my first day of summer holidays as I was yesterday, but that the joy of being on holidays makes the whole thing even more loveable. I love that being on holidays changes the temperature of my days, changes the hue and tint of my view, changes the very flavor of the air I breathe. I love the character of holidays even when I’m writing or cooking or cleaning up the house so we can abandon it for the cottage without feeling guilty about its condition. I love that today is a birthday for someone in my household and it isn’t mine. I love that we’re meeting friends for dinner out. I love that the restaurant is being very accommodating and I know we’re going to have a great time. I love how birthdays and birthday parties are my new favorite way to start holidays. I love that we are both still working today on the first day of our holidays and that we both recognize how much pressure we put on ourselves because of how much pressure magically disappears when we go to work voluntarily.

Today I love that I get to do a radio show regularly and that every now and then something reminds me that that is what I’ve gotten myself into and I always get the feeling that I have finally gotten to one of the destinations I must have secretly harbored in my subconscious, because, damn this feels like I’ve gotten somewhere important. I love that when I first started doing the show I was worried about what I would say but of course I never shut up in real life so why would I not have anything to say in a prerecorded show?

Today I love Blitz Torte, which was a cake my family traditionally made on birthdays and referred to as Blitzen Cake. I love that Summerfolk Construction starts soon. I love that I get to volunteer for that. I love all the music in my life. I love that I’m back in my front porch office and it looks even more relaxing, now that I’m on holidays, if that’s at all possible.

Today I love drinking holiday coffee in my holiday office and my first day of holidays.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
