Today I love that Summerfolk begins now, even though the show doesn’t start ’til next Friday night. I love that we’ve started construction at the park. I love that so many things are different this year and yet it’s still the same job and the same people and the same fun. I love how much I look forward to this. I love that we get to put together these loads of lumber and plywood and screws with random ideas and tape and paint and suddenly we have a world class folk festival on our hands. I love that I have so much to do with this festival, from promoting to building and attending, as well as pushing people to consider volunteering and attending as well. I love that I get to see this festival from both sides, I get to see how it goes together and then I get the whole weekend off to attend the show. I love that even as I am enjoying the show I know I’ll be tearing it down and putting it back into storage again afterwards. I love that nothing goes together the same two years in a row, but memories always help when it’s time to modify things. I love finding things that need to be done and just doing them. I love being a summer folk.
Today I love that it’s Saturday and even though it’s the strangest Saturday of the year. I love that we got to go to the Farmers Market for breakfast and groceries. I love that I get to fit everything in, the normal and the unusual, and make it work. I love that there is so much life in this world and that there is so much world in my life. I love finding out that even when I change my attitude and try to squeeze everything I can out of my life, life keeps pleasing me.
Today I Love the sweet smell of summer in all the places that we hang out. I love it at home and at the cottage and the sweet smell of the earthy woods at my friend Jon Farmer’s place last night was good enough that it has been remarked on. I love the music we heard last night. I love that the cottage is rented out this weekend and next because we wouldn’t be able to be there anyway. I love that life is so good.
Today I love drinking coffee and volunteering for summerfolk.
