Today I Love That Love Always Wins

Today I love that love always wins just because love always tries to move us forward and even just momentum or a little bit of forward pressure is better than standing still or moving backwards. I love that love can fill a life so full of joy and happiness, and I know this because my life is overflowing. I love waking up in the night to the rolling and rumbling of a midnight thunderstorm, love the way it makes the world seem so powerful. I love the silhouette of someone familiar standing in the window when the lightning flashes. I love how comforting it is to feel like I’m safe in my home with my family. I love waking in the morning to familiar sounds, the alarm, the radio, the gentle wind outside, the quiet of the street slowly waking up and taking hold of the day. I love that the last week of August always feels like the best of summer, always sets the stage for summer’s ripening into autumn which is a slow thing that will take four or more weeks to accomplish, to bring the season to the fullness of its sweet conclusion. I love that over my sixty summers I’ve learned to let it play out slowly because it has a lot to offer if you just relax into it rather than grumbling about its passing.

Today I love my Wednesday office and that it is becoming a brighter place to be as the walls slowly transition from dark roast to butter cream. I love that the day is a dark one but there seem to be breaks of sunlight, and other times when the clouds look to be almost low enough to be called fog and they’re lit from above so that they are bright, brilliant white. I love that the weather always makes me happy, that I’ve lived through enough of it to know that it all has things to offer even if those things are just awe at the destructive power and thankfulness at having lived through it … so far.

Today I love People who know what they want in the café and relish and savor their choices. I love when people enjoy the food I make at home. I love that I’m trying to figure out how to expand my repertoire of food, all I need is a few more hours in the day. 😉 I love cooking, and though there are so many other things I love to do and need to do, whenever I end up in the kitchen making food I’m usually happy about it.

Today I love drinking coffee in the fresh new surroundings of my good old Wednesday office.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
