Today I Love That I Slept In

coffee and access bands
I’ve been everywhere …

Today I love that I slept in and didn’t wake with a start thinking I needed to be somewhere and be doing something, even though I do need to get down to the site of Summerfolk and get busy helping tear it down. I love that the festival was a wonderful success. I love that I got to sing on the main stage with my friends from our radio show. I love that I ate all the food that was bad for me and some of the food that was good for me over the weekend. I love that I saw so many wonderful crafts and artisan creations, that I heard so much music, and that it was all such an eclectic mix, as eclectic as the seven hundred volunteers that put the show together. I love that I have enough bands on my wrist that allowed me to do anything and go anywhere, that they got me into the camp site, the beer tent, the general store after it was closed and even back stage whenever I chose to wander back there. I love that although I wait for this festival for an entire year, and although it is over in two and a half short days, it is totally worth the wait. I love Summerfolk and #Summerfolk43 was no exception to that rule.

Today I love that as soon as one adventure ends, another begins. I love that as soon as I finish with tear down for Summerfolk I’m getting ready to host my friend Shawna Caspi at our cottage for what I’m starting to call “Afterfolk.” I love that this will be #Afterfolk01. I love that I have bigger plans than I can manage to pull off, but that’s okay, it gives me something to look towards for #afterfolk02, should such an event take place.

Today I love when the milk goes off enough to warn you that you need new milk, but not so much that you can’t choke it down if the porridge it’s on is really good, and today the porridge was really good … thank heaven. I love that some of my fondest memories were of things that didn’t happen to me, but were actually things that happened in books. I love that the rest of my fondest memories did happen to me and they easily match the other memories for quality, joy, and excitement.  I love my memories, but I love even more that I am still making memories and they are also of a quality that ensures that they too will be among my fondest.

Today I love drinking coffee and contemplating all the places that I was this weekend past.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
