Today I Love Quiet Cottage Mornings

Today I love quiet cottage mornings. I love the oddly bittersweet goodbye when a guest leaves in the early morning, happy that they’re safely one there way yet sorry that they will be missing the things that the cottage has to offer. I love that I feel like we received a gift because of having had Shawna play her music on the shoreline last night. I love how whenever people gather together there is an impromptu creation of character that belongs to that group for that time only, and the group last night was a perfect example of a great crowd with a great character. I love that so many people got to see this place and hear that show. I love that the stage worked out perfectly, that the mood lighting was fun and that the lights for the show worked out very well and I have to remember to thank my friends Dylan and Lauren for those. I love that this community is peppered so liberally with musicians who look out for other musicians and help them out when they can. I love that I feel that way about helping other musicians out too. I love how everything seemed to fit together into a wonderful evening of entertainment last night.

Today I love that it is market day and Saturday and it is a cool damp day so it’s an easy day for breathing and being still and contemplating, yet also an easy day in which to maybe accomplish a few things that have been set aside until there was breathing room in the schedule. I love that the last two weeks are over, as much as I loved that I got to experience them. I love that I am newly emancipated from the hectic pace of Summerfolk and all the other things that always pop up around this time of the year.

Today I love people who are not afraid to show their feelings, and those that are but are working hard to show them anyway. I love that it was cloudy last night but that we had our own stars to admire anyway. I love the damp green earthy smell of this place by the water where hearts relax and feel free to experience the things they are hesitant to feel in the busyness of the weekdays of work. I love the dull luster of the bay in the light of a cloudy dawn.

Today I love drinking coffee and breathing easily in the afterglow of a great evening of music.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
