Today I Love The Dragons

coffee cup, road
Road coffee …

Today I love the dragons whose spirits live in our boats and crews as we race for fun and honor. I love that we were up before the sun and on the road to gather at the water in Hamilton. I love that our team from Grey and Bruce are passionate and determined, that we will do our best and that our best will be good enough. I love that I am as much at home onĀ  the water as I am on the road, that I feel free when I am in motion whether it is driving or riding the waves or just walking or swimming. I love that motion is life for me. I love the morning mist that hung over the ponds and streams as we rolled over the countryside. I love that I am not above being dramatic and saying we are on our way to our destiny. I love that the google never gets frustrated with us for not following her directions, even though I get frustrated with her for nagging us to make u-turns or take silly back roads to get us back on her preferred course. I really love the google as a map because it’s like a map where you never have to say, “Shush, I’m trying to figure out where we are!”

Today I love that I’ve almost finished my first episode of the radio show I’m now part of. I love that ideas for future shows are swirling around in my head and in my household. I love that inspiration abounds in the people around me. I love that I have found yet another way to have music in my life and I love that it is a way to share music and my love of it with others. I love that knowing music and musicians makes this particular job even more fun.

Today I love strawberries and figs in oatmeal. I love that it is a perfect summer day, cool morning and sunny bright afternoon. I love that if I have to give up my Saturday routine, today’s activities will be worth that relinquishing. I love that detours almost always show you scenery you’d never seen before. I love that detours and changes in routine make life interesting. I love that my life is so very interesting and often exciting, or at least it’s exciting enough for me. I love that I can write on the road now, love how things have changed so much that this is such an easy thing to do.

Today I love drinking coffee while I rumble down the road and contemplate life’s wonders.

Today I Love The Dragons

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
