Today I love the perfect blue of the sky behind the clouds to the West North West. I love this solstice day, this mark of change, this point at which the world reaches as far to the south as it can and gives all of us in the northern hemisphere the longest day of the year. I love that that means in exactly six months we will get the longest night of the year and I look forward to that as well so that I can get caught up on my rest. I love that everyone grumbles about summer not being here while the days get progressively longer and then they grumble about the days getting shorter while we have summer, people are fun to listen to. I love that every time someone complains about the weather I get to practice not laughing, though I sometimes slip and tell them to ask for their money back. I love that even when I’m a little irreverent I still love people and things and that keeps me smiling. I love this cool aired morning and the knowledge that the day is supposed to warm up wonderfully and be the first perfect summer day of this summer season here in my little city.
Today I love that yesterday I got to interview my friend Jayden Grahlman and we were kind of excited because he has a CD coming out in about a week. I love all my jobs and how they kind of end up with me being associated with music and musicians and artists of all feather. I love that we did the interview outside on the shores of Georgian Bay and that is pretty fitting. I love how water and music just seem to go together in my life, how does that keep happening. Pretty cool, right? I love how my loves all seem to fit together.
Today I love breakfast time. I love plans for music projects. I love sunlight sneaking around the porch post trying to spy on me. I love robins bopping on the lawn. I love that the girl who delivers the flyers thinks the plastic spider in our mailbox is cool. I love that the crossing guard at the end of our street waves at us when he’s there and we come through. I love the maple tree next door that is constantly murmuring about how lovely its leaves are and quietly telling the world to look, just look at that perfect shade of green.
Today I love drinking coffee while I ponder that perfect blue that now is perfectly cloudless from where I sit, but the clouds will come back eventually, I don’t think they’ve left us for good.
