Today I love these last three days of Winter’s custodial caring for our part of the earth. I love that, although it has not been a great winter for it, we got some snow and hopefully it was enough to keep the land from drying out. I love that Winter is relinquishing her hold on us with maple sap days, days where the temperature goes above freezing followed by nights where the temperature drops below freezing causing the maple trees to relax and get ready for the next day to build up pressure and push the sap up into the branches to bring energy to the buds so they can explode into leaves and keys. I love that I get to eat maple syrup almost every weekday of my life. I love that this is the time of year when I think about it most. I love the swelling feeling of hope and love that stirs in most humans at this time of the year. I love the whole idea of Spring fever that takes hold of imaginations and ambitions and stirs us down to our souls. I love that Spring’s feverish excitement is just weeks, and maybe only days away.
Today I love that tonight is choir practice night and our rock choir is the best rock choir I’ve ever been in or even heard perform live. I love that we work so hard at being a happy social bunch and the music just thrives in that atmosphere. I love that even if I don’t know my part perfectly I get carried through by my back row crew. I love that me and my back row crew own that back row! I love that we are the happiest, kindest people with attitude that I’ve ever met. I love that a really good bad attitude can be harnessed for sooo much power.
Today I love fried eggs and doughnuts for breakfast. I love the plans we’ve made to go walking today. I love that I’m now on the look out for a decent pair of winter hiking boots, ’cause now that winter is almost over I realize what I’m missing and I don’t want to be missing that next winter. I love that adventures still abound, little ones and big ones and absolutely gigantic and colossal ones as well. I love that I am constantly working on having new adventures of every size.
Today I love drinking coffee by the frozen but soon to be thawed out cottage bay.
