Today I Love The Arching Cloudy Vistas
Today I love the arching cloudy vistas of the vaulted sky, the souring banks of cotton bulges that have been carved out of water vapor by the gentle movements of the wind. I love that they appear as solid as mountains on their ethereal stage. I love the show they put on so often. I love that when they need contrast they part and allow glimpses of brilliant blue or inky black carpets spattered with dotted starry points. I love the way they often glow with the back lighting of the sun. I love that clouds are the bringers of rain and snow without which we would not be here. I love that Joni Mitchell saw the beauty in clouds, and the negatives as well, because balance is everything, balance is love, nothing can be loved unless the good and the bad of it are known or at least suspected. I love the silhouettes that trees and hills and towns make, especially in the evening when a clouded western sky catches fire behind them. I love the many chances to appreciate beauty that sun and sky and clouds often offer us.
Today I love that it is Monday and I’m back at work here in the reclining office. I love my old recliner chair, love that it came into my life at a time when my back needed to be pampered while I wrote and has been with me for several wonderful years. I love that there are lots of leftovers after the weekend. I love that some of those leftovers are of the doughnut variety. I love doughnuts. I love that there is laundry to be done because I love the sound of the laundry running. I love that there are movies to be watched yet, that we add to the list constantly and remove items from that list regularly as well. I love that the list is kept on a chalkboard by the television and the title of that list is “Coming Attractions.”
Today I love microwave, cottage oatmeal for breakfast. I love making the cottage weekend last right up to Monday morning before coming home. I love that the work on the house is moving forward, that it is just a few small jobs, but that they will make things much easier and better. I love that soon there will be light in the family room. I love that now that the master bedroom has been painted there is talk of other rooms being done as well, even though we said going in that we wouldn’t do that. I love that I don’t care if we do or we don’t, so long as we’re happy.
Today I love sipping coffee under arching vaults of cloud.
