Today I love lives well lived, like that of my friend Bob from Sauble Beach. Good work, thanks for all you did. I love people who embrace their lives and live them with enduring passion. I love when people immerse themselves in their surroundings, embed themselves in their circle of peers and own their lives as they are without hesitation. I love that there are people in this world who do not wait for better to come along, who accept what is here and now and make it the best it can be. I love people who rely solely on themselves for their own happiness because they make it look like everyone around them is responsible for their being happy. I love people who set an example for the rest of us.
Today I love that last night we won the preliminary round at curling and are now in the round robin of the playoffs. I love that we had a good solid game that was well played and good opponents to play against. I love that this now means that there are at least two more games to play, one on Friday night and one on Monday night. I love that there will also be some curling on Saturday when we have the family funspiel, and that will involve food and fun curling. I love how much I love curling, it’s the most frustratingly fun game, fun because it’s curling and frustrating because they really need to figure out how to make it last all year. I love that the people I curl with and against are the bomb-dot-com and so much fun to be around. I love the aprés curl socializing as well.
Today I love being in the Wednesday office again, even though I’m feeling a bit under the weather. I love that when I have a bit of a bug, my work is the kind of work that I can continue to do. I love that I can work from my recliner, or a café, a desk in an office, or anywhere at the cottage, or even my bed if I have to. I love my work and I love that even when I’m not well I still want to go to work.
Today I love drinking coffee and thinking about spring and all the things that we get to do as the seasons change, things like kayaking and canoeing and dragon boating soon. I love remembering my friend Bob and remembering that kayaking and canoeing were important parts of his life. Paddles up, let’s go.
