Today I Love Cough Candies

Today I love that I am on Holidays. But I love my job and I love writing these posts. My intention is to keep writing “Today I Love …” while I holiday, but I’ve made provision to republish some of my favorite posts if I cannot access the internet on any particular day. Today is one of those days, but I love that I get to share this post from February 6th, 2017 with you again. Please, read on …

cough candy
Mmmmm, cough candies.

Today I love grapefruit flavoured cough candies and the fact that they are in the mixed citrus bag so you never know if the next one you unwrap will be one of them or a lemon or orange one. I love that lemon and orange are also pretty good, but not as good as grapefruit. I love cough candies when I have a nagging cough like this one that just won’t let go or shake off. I love hot water with honey and lemon and thinly sliced ginger root in it. I love the calm that comes over my throat when it feels the honey. I love that honey never goes bad. I love that it can be used for almost any part of a meal and can also flavor almost any snack. I love that I’m pretty sure that honey is antiseptic, and I love that if it is not I don’t care I’m going to continue to believe that it is anyway. I love that I love honey more when my throat is giving me trouble and that almost makes throat trouble worth it, but not quite.

Today I love that I don’t cough when I’m exercising, and that means that when I walk the track I get an hour of cough free time. I love that the track is no where near as boring as it could be with the view of the pool and the weight training area and the stationary exercise equipment area and two walls of glass that look outside and a mezzanine that overlooks the lobby and entrances. I love walking and the time I get to spend meditating when I walk. I love knowing that I can do what I do and that I know it is doing me good. I love that I have started looking after myself again.

Today I love music in my head. I love that my new MP3 player works so well and I love that when I turn it off music continues to play in my mind. I love reading posts on the Facebook about the Blitz Torte that I made a couple of years ago and I love thinking it’s time I made it again. I love cooking and I love when the kitchen is clean, though I’m only just barely fond of cleaning the kitchen. I love listening to the washer and dryer rumbling away ’cause that means clean laundry and I love folding clean laundry.

Today I love coffee, but only after I’ve finished my cough candy.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
