Today I Love Finding Strength

snow on back deck
Peaceful, early morning

Today I love finding strength and the ways in which that happens. I love that last night when I was feeling pretty done in, all I had to do was step onto the stage and I was suddenly jacked up on adrenaline and ready to go. I love that the first surge came when we were heading up to the stage en masse through the audience up the aisles between the pews and when the audience realized we were the choir taking the stage they broke out in applause and some cheering and man, I just felt the surge. I love that, while I don’t get nervous, I certainly do feed off the audiences reactions. I love that I knew most of the music last night and all the words, though not necessarily the order or even which words go in which songs. I love that I’m still there in the choir after having missed at least half the practices due to health problems. I love that there were a couple of times (maybe more) when I couldn’t get the right notes in my head so I just harmonized with those around me and I don’t think I freaked out too many of my choir peeps.

Today I love that tonight we do the choir show all over again. I love that tonight I also have an open mic to run and I’ll be bolting from the one to the other because the open mic ends at the same time as our stage call for the choir. I love that these two events are only three blocks away from each other, and only two and a half, if I take the back alley. I love that I’ll have my guitar with me when I go to the Choir show tonight and maybe someone will think I’m a big rock star or something, ;P ha ha.

Today I love people being safe on the roads and getting where they’re going and getting home again in all this snow. I love when people drive safely because they recognize that the ground in much of our area is still warm enough to turn snow into slush and make things really slippery. I love people who realize that they aren’t just putting themselves at risk when they’re out on the road. I love that there is so much snow around and that this is the time of year when everything looks white and clean and new and sparkly. I love that I will be heading out to clear the drive again in a short while. I love that the snow blower is working well, though it did need its carburetor cleaned out this fall.

Today I love drinking coffee in the stillness of the early morning, and slowly getting all my stuff together and ready for another long day of busy.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
