Today I love falling water and the wondrous ruckus and cacophony it makes as it finds its way to where it clearly longs to be. I love how bravely it leaps from high up and plunges headlong into its destiny. I love that waterfalls are a metaphor for life, as much as we like to think we are in control of everything, we really have no idea what lies below, and no control when we come to the edges of the precipices of each moment of our lives. I love finding the cascades and gorges and the next sections of the stream my life is floating down. I love how much of an affinity I have for water and how often I find myself drawn to it. I love that the place where I live is called Bluewater Country and there is no mistaking the reason for that, but there is lots of white water here too. I love that there are kayaks and canoes and sailboats and cruisers and even a dragon boat here and that I get to play with some of those. I love how subtle changes in the weather and the water levels at the cottage make the shore different from one day to the next, sometimes it’s gravel and sometimes it’s sand, sometimes the levels are so high that the shoreline is the retaining stones and sometimes it’s so low that there is a swath of beach that is dry. I love water.
Today I love that last night I got to perform on the same stage as some of my communities more notably talented people. I love that we got to see a children’s choir from Wiarton perform. I love that my friend Melanie Knapp read some of her poetry, that Kelda sang amazingly, and that Danuta read two great poems as well. I love how much talent shows up in the church in my little village and how amazing it always is at that twice a year show they have there. I love that I got asked back.
Today I love good company who make themselves at home and make it easy to host them as guests. I love going all out for breakfast. I love that the little things in my life are so big. I love the way that they make my life easy to love. I love that I know people who find joy in small things.
Today I love drinking coffee by the falls.
