Today I love this fair day, sunny and warm enough at nine this morning for a flag raising for Trigeminal Neuralgia Awareness. I love that my late friend Bob Wallace championed this cause and, though he suffered terribly with this disease, I love that he would have been compassionate about it even if he never had it, ’cause that’s the kind of guy he was. I love that local people pushed this flag raising forward and made it happen. I love that the flag was designed by my friend, Mary Little. I love that the momentum created by Bob for this cause has not been lost. I love that the city knows enough to value this treasure of community compassion and make it part of what we are about. I love that there is always something going on in this town that can be held up as an example of the passion and caring that feeds the home fires of my little city.
Today I love that there is much to do around my home, and much to do at the cottage, and I will be trying to strike out everything on both of those lists. I love that there is no end of things to add to those lists because that means there is no end in sight of my being needed here in my world. I love that our friends seemed to have a great time at the shore with us yesterday, ’cause that’s the kind of good time I enjoy. I love all the food we ate over the weekend, and all the desserts that appeared and then disappeared. Wow, was that a lot of good stuff. I love chocolate ice cream with hot peppers in it, but I really love salted caramel ice cream.
Today I love the sounds of laundry in the machine. I love the way the front porch keeps calling me to sit there and write. I love how much I laugh at myself when I forget things for the umpteenth time, ’cause I used to beat myself up emotionally for that and now life is much better. I love that I’ve been meaning to say that last one for, like, three weeks but I kept forgetting. I love bicycles that work smoothly. I love tricky tech that does amazing things. I love that curling starts soon. I love that I am Canadian and so I love playing on the ice.
Today I love sipping coffee from my work mug while my friends’ make good things happen, like a flag raising.
