Today I Love Lazy Drizzly Rain
Today I love lazy drizzly rain falling as I slowly wake to an easy and happy Saturday morning. I love that my friends, Paul and Ashley are moving in to their own house and making their home here in our pretty little city, becoming more permanent residents, ’cause they are good people and they make this town that much nicer. I love that we went to meet them today after the market and helped them move. I love that the rain cleared up and I’m even okay with the fact that it got to be quite hot, ’cause maybe we’ll go swimming later. I love swimming in October on Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. I love being adventurous that way. I love happy conversations about
things that were worth waiting for. I love all the plans that are afoot for this weekend. I love that dinner is a repetitive theme over the next three days, wondering what to do for it tonight, and with family and then friends over the next two nights. I love that we got to the market for breakfast and the fish ladder for a bit of a break. I love how determined the salmon are to make their way up stream to the spawning ground, how they persevere and how they know how to find their way to a place they last saw as a fingerling.
Today I love packing for a cottage weekend, trying to remember all the things that we want to bring for all the things we want to do. I love planning to have a deep fried turkey tomorrow and friends visiting on Monday for leftovers. I love leftovers. I love that big meals with family always remind me of my grandmother in her kitchen.
Today I love breakfast at the market. I love packing moving trucks like I’m playing Tetris. I love young people who are starting to test their strength and abilities and I love when they want to help. I love that a charming young lady guessed me to be forty years old today. Wasn’t that sweet of her. I love olives. I love root beer when everyone else is drinking beer. I love calling people amateurs when they’re drinking boutique beer. I love that this autumn day has been so much fun so far and has promised me it will continue to be so. I love that I am happy.
Today I love drinking coffee from my spill proof coffee cup while I drive my friends belongings across town to their lovely new home, lovely because they’re there now.
