Today I Love Successes

me, coffee
Surprisingly, my throat doesn’t hurt …

Today I love successes, like getting the gutters cleaned out. I love when I go to do a job that I don’t have time for and the people aren’t there so I don’t have to do it today. I love even better if it’s cancelled instead of having to take the time to drive to the site to find out it’s off, but hey, you can’t have everything, right? I love that I was able to locate all the tools I needed for the job, ’cause I found a whole stash of my tools and I’ll be needing them next month for the big Summerfolk42 construction. I love that my old truck is still running and that I’m sure it will make it through one last Summerfolk. I love that I still think about getting another truck sometimes. I love that I survived the upper GI scope virtually unscathed yesterday and that even the tiny twinge of sore throat I had is better now. I love feeling good and rested, love being ready for action and adventure, love that life is right here and right now and ready to be grabbed and consumed and enjoyed. I love that I am alive and kicking.

Today I love that I am off to the Sweetgrass & Thistle Concert Series show where my friends, Dylan & Lauren will be performing and I am so excited to be the M.C. for this one. I love that there is talk of me singing a song tonight, I just have to figure out which one to sing. I love that I am leaning hard towards “We Love This Town” just because, on a broader scale, that’s what the whole Sweetgrass & Thistle thing is about, love in a community. I love that I am associated with this series, it so very much speaks the heart of what I believe.

Today I love that there is talk of going to the beach this afternoon or tomorrow. I love that the job I was supposed to do today will be rescheduled soon. I love getting up in the morning to new days of wonder and splendor and mystery and hope and laughter and love, always love. I love early morning sounds. I love the radio alarm playing when I don’t have to get up and I can just stay in bed and listen. I love good food in exotic restaurants. I love being free to laugh and sing and pray and cry if I want to.

Today I love drinking coffee with a throat that feels no pain.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
