Today I Love The Dining Room

grey-blue clouds
The day with the ribbons removed …

Today I love the dining room which is more than half way back to being a dining room again and has only about 30% of the boxes left in it that it had and they are stacked neatly in a row. I love that the music room is suddenly more like a room as well and there is space to move around walking in a normal way instead of having to crab-walk sideways through the narrow labyrinthine passage-ways that made the music and dining rooms the stuff of nightmares where you expected suspenseful cello and bass and double bass music to be playing. I love that there are even more plans in place now. I love that I have somehow managed to keep more stuff than I thought I would be able to and haven’t driven myself or anyone else completely insane yet. I love that I may have driven us partially insane, but it has been done in a good way that is allowing us to resolve ourselves to being okay with keeping things that we know we should get rid of, and there is laughter and discussions about possibly just keeping things until we can decide … which may never happen and we know it.

Today I love chess and mahjong and pinball and pool and bowling and curling and I did all those things on this long weekend and enjoyed them all. I love that I walked three times and skated for half an hour and am even more resolved to get good new skates now.I love that this morning dawned with a ribbon of pink cloud banded across the eastern horizon and I thought there would be a beautiful dawn and was looking forward to photographing it as soon as the coffee and oatmeal were on the table and it lasted about ninety seconds and was replaced with blue-grey clouds that have since just turned to a grey wash. I love that I got to see that ribbon of pink before the bow was untied and the wrapping removed on this soon to be warm, mild day.

I love that today may be the day that I end up with a sound system for the band. I love that I found one that is the same as the one I use at open mic and that means that I will be very familiar with it and will have less to learn about it when I go to use it.

Today I love coffee in the much more organized dining room.

Today I Love The Dining Room

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live on the traditional lands of the Chippewas of Nawash in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or 7 generations and my First Nations friend's families go back hundreds of generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I am a freelance writer and I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about living with ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
