Today I Love Lazy Sunday Mornings

Snow-People! Ready to go do snow-people things

Today I love lazy Sunday mornings with the sun shining in on breakfast and the day threatening to just slide by without letting anything important happen. I love when Sundays remind me of all the things that could happen and have happened in the past, like family reunions and sporting events and day trips and picnics and things that just happen spontaneously. I love that the plan is to go skating today and maybe end up in the pool as well. I love that more snow-people got created yesterday and they are still in the yard, possibly waiting for something to do or someplace to go. I love that snow-people are so inscrutable. I love that we made a snowman in the front yard of my friends, Dylan and Lauren’s front yard, while they were away and left it there to surprise them. I love that yesterday the office got a little more organized and plans have been made to organize it even more. I love that I created three waste baskets full of shredded documents and that some of the shredded paper will be used in the worm composter.

Today I love that the office will soon be a place to write and edit, and even though I often just work in my recliner, it’s nice to know that the office is there with all the dictionaries and thesauruses and the printer and scanner and spare keyboards and mice and monitors and stuff. I love that I’m planning to do some more work on the office today and it will be closer to being ready to go by the end of today … if Sunday doesn’t slip away with all the time and leave me with nothing done. I love that even if that happens I will be pleased with this day when it is done because it will be a day that I survived and thrived in, or at least got through.

Today I love that the temperature is going up above freezing again and there may be more snow-people made. I love lemon-poppy seed loaf and that I made two loaves on Thursday and took them to curling on Friday and there was very little left and a friend took that home. I love that there was a little bit still here at home because I’m no fool and I love the stuff and had some of that with my breakfast. I love that I am slowly getting used to the kitchen here and slowly getting some of my kitchenware and appliances set up and learning to use the appliances that were here already.

Today I love that Sunday is encouraging me to make coffee and relax and drink it in the sunlight, while it slides the seconds and minutes and even hours by. Crafty Sunday.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live on the traditional lands of the Chippewas of Nawash in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or 7 generations and my First Nations friend's families go back hundreds of generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I am a freelance writer and I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about living with ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
