Today I Love Snow Tires

A hint of snow …

Today I love snow tires and their reassuring rumble as they buzz down the road underneath me. I love that they are on in time for the weather that seems to have landed on us, though I’m pretty sure it won’t stay and we’ll have some nice autumn days yet. I love that days like this make me feel like I should be heading for the rink to skate or play hockey or curl, even though I haven’t skated much in the past few years and I don’t have the equipment for anything but street hockey and even though I’m not able to go curling this week because of prior commitments. I love that people I know ski and snowboard and even snowshoe and I love to do one of those things also. I love that whenever I think about skiing or snowboarding I ponder it for a moment or two and then shake my head and reassure myself that I’m not ever likely to climb up a hill or mountain only to let gravity throw me back down to where I started from. I’ll just stay at the bottom and wait for my friends. Pass the hot chocolate.

Today I love that it is Thanksgiving in the U.S.A. and, although we already celebrated it last month, we’re always up for a party here in Canada and any excuse will do. I love that today is a busy one and tonight will be busier still. I love being on the go. I love that there are plans for us to go out this evening and that we will just barely be able to fit them into our regularly scheduled programming, but fit them in we will! I love being out with friends and watching them enjoying each others company, I love the way they all work hard at showing how much they care for each other without actually saying it.

Today I love how I get hooked on things and just have to pursue them. Topics of interest that I want to study, activities that I’ve put off trying for ever and then try and decide that I was wrong to put them off for so long, books by certain authors, food that intimidated me (like dragon fruit … OMG that is so cool!) and movies that I haven’t seen.

Today I love coffee by the window with the view of all the snow, even though there really isn’t that much of it yet, it’s more of a suggestion of snow so far, really, and that makes for a good view with my coffee.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live on the traditional lands of the Chippewas of Nawash in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or 7 generations and my First Nations friend's families go back hundreds of generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I am a freelance writer and I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about living with ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
