Today I love moving forward quickly and easily ahead of schedule. I love that, although the schedule isn’t completely filled in yet, some of the things I would like to have done by the end of tomorrow are done already thanks to help and determination. I love that it is Wednesday and that’s the day I take off to another place to work. I love that I have my Wednesday night class tonight. I love learning about other cultures, love learning what parts of my life are universally part of life and what parts are cultural and not always common. I love early morning road trips and chances to find new places and things to see. I love that I am still not overwhelmed by all that is in front of me, I’m still on the front of the wave, not even in the curl yet, and far from being buried by the tide of coming events. I love that I plan to stay out front of this and ride it until I get to the shore, or close enough to wade in.
Today I love that one of the things that might contribute to overwhelming me is coming up this Friday in the form the book launch of the anthology of short stories that my writers’ group has written. I love that it is being published, and printed as we speak if it isn’t already off the presses and in cartons on its way here or possibly already arrived in the book store where the launch is being held. This might be a packed event, since nine of us local authors will be at it, all of us reading a bit of our story or talking about the story or its inspiration or about the art of writing. I love that there will be yet another book with a story of mine in it, but best of all, I love that it will be in the company of stories written by people I know and admire and respect. And in a very real way they are people I love, but don’t tell them that, ‘kay? 😉
Today I love walking around exploring. I love day old discount danish pastries. I love taking care of things, checking off to do lists, feeling like I’ve accomplished stuff, all the stuff. I love running into friends in unusual places and finding out why they are where they are. I love that I often manage to find the strangest things to do and do them and then realize how very “not strange” they are, once they are done.
Today I love coffee everywhere I go, because it makes my life feel calm. I know that seems counter intuitive for most people, but that’s how it works for me and I’m happy about that. One more for the road then, and I’ll just head out to today’s office.
