Today I Love Monday Hustle

The last star of morning

Today I love Monday hustle. I love waking up rested and facing the day ahead with determination. I love when things converge on one day and become a tangled ball of errands with optimum times of performance that must be taken into account. I love when weeks start looking like that before they even start. It’s like being at the top of the first drop of a roller-coaster and knowing you can scream and struggle to get out, or you can throw back your head and laugh, but you’re going through it anyway, so you might as well put your hands in the air and ride the thing ’til it tires out. I love knowing that there will be unexpected curves and some of them will take us all places we don’t appreciate, but some of them will show us things we need to see and learn, and some of them will seem like the ones that we don’t appreciate and turn out to be the ones we needed to see and learn about. I love wild weeks of hectic plans and coincidence. I love life’s ride. Let’s all go ’round again, shall we.

Today I love that last night at choir I got that feeling I get when it all seems to suddenly come together and I realize that we still have work to do, but no more than we can handle in the time we have left. I love that choir is more than just an analogy for life, but it is most assuredly an analogy for life, work hard and reap the rewards, count on your friends when you need to, look to those who know the way when you’re struggling or lost, and never forget that there is music in everything, all you have to do is listen. I love choirs, and I love my choir, my Rock The Sound Choir. Take a seat and get yourself comfortable, ’cause this is going to be really fun this season, and you’re going to be sad if you miss us.

Today I love thinking about the beach while the wind howls outside and the snow crunches underfoot and the thermometer suggests that I might need to layer up if I’m heading out. I love that, somewhere in all the stuff that was packed away last summer, my boots are lurking, waiting for me to dig them out, but I’m holding off to see if them not being out and ready for me will keep the snow away for a while yet.

Today I love coffee by the fireplace while the wind howls outside the door.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
