Today I Love A Good Night’s Sleep

autumn tree
Some trees …

Today I love a good night’s sleep and the way the morning feels powerful and full of potential. I love that this is the day I get to have now. I love that there is only success and hope, everything else is just temporary. I love that things will get done today, just like they did yesterday only better because yesterday was such a fog of tiredness that even the things that got done are hazy images in the rear view mirror of life. I love that there is nothing in my life that can’t yet be accomplished with determination. I love that there are people everywhere who know these things and are quietly acting on them. I love that there are more of those people who are acting on those things but not so quietly. I love the determination of so many people that I know. They will win. They have already won because they keep doing what they want to do. They pursue.

Today I love that it is Thursday and Thursday is that day that wakes you up calmly and then just as you are lulled into a sense of comfort with it being still the middle-ish part of the week, Thursday yells in your ear, “OMG, tomorrow is FRIDAY!!! What have you done so far?” Thursdays can be jerks, but they are fun loving, adorable jerks as days go. I love that I’m still working at three different jobs. I love that each one seems like a break from the other two. I love that no matter which one I’m doing, I’m also anxious to get back to the others. I love working Thursdays.

Today I love good bread, crunchy dill pickles, date squares, dark chocolate, smiling old men in sports cars who know they look cool, trees with leaves still hanging on, books that you want to go on for ever, people who donate blood, remembering the Saturday Color Comics of my youth, drawing with pen and ink, writing poems that want to be written, and onion rings. I love running into friends in odd places and just saying hi, “Hi, M. and M.” I love being reminded of young poets who I admire and  expect great things from if they choose to continue with their poetry. I love the agile minds that create, even when they convince themselves that they can’t, I know that when they ask themselves if that is true they will find that they still can.

Today I love coffee on the run, got work to do and I better get to it.

Today I Love A Good Night’s Sleep

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
