Today I Love This Brilliant Blue Sky

Mmmmmmm ...Today I love this brilliant blue sky that seems to go on and up for ever.I love the way the emerald leaves of the aspen trees sparkle in the sunlight, so shiny and rich. I love that the temperature is going to climb back up to summer temps today, I love little tastes of autumn that make my blankets feel warm and welcome, but I’ll take more summer if it’s offered.

Today I love the smell of breakfast cooking.I love spontaneously deciding to add this or that to my usual breakfast. I love that when I know I won’t be doing the same thing every day for breakfast, I’m far more open minded to the possibilities of omelette additives. I love that on rare occasions I will actually say to myself, “Well, that’s interesting … I think it will be a while before I try that again.” and then immediately forget that I said that and a week or so later I’ll try it again.

Today I love that I have too much work to do and people will be disappointed in me by the end of the day. I love that I cannot say no to work and I love that I’m determined to learn how to do that without disappointing people. I love that I do way too many different things and that my plan is to cut back to just a few in the very near future.

Today I love coffee ’cause it goes so well with brilliant skies and breakfast omelettes and work, and even with writing … which is work, but it’s my favorite work and doesn’t seem like work ’cause I get to play with it and have fun and drink coffee while I do it. Mmmmmm, coffee and writing, I could live on that and love it.

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or more generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about having ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
