Today I Love The Crescent Moon

Same moon, different timeToday I love the crescent moon that set last night on my western horizon. It looked so huge and magical and I would have taken a picture of it but I knew it would be gone by the time I had set up my camera. I love that it was just for me and those who got to see it. I love that it was different from any other time I’ve seen the moon and I love that the moon is so constantly enchanting.

Today I love the quiet of the early morning, I love that the weather is still so summer like even though the end of summer is fast approaching, and I love that summer and autumn are two of my four favorite seasons. I love the sense of maturity and completion that summer gives as it ends. It seems to be saying “Here, this is everything I’ve done and now it is yours to harvest. Take all this and store it to get you through the seasons of harvest and rest and rebirth.”

Today I love that it is Friday, that the weekend starts today, that there will be music, oh yes there will be music and poetry and laughter and smiling. I love that I can’t remember when I started hosting the Friday Afternoon Coffee House & Open Mic at The Bleeding Carrot, but that I love doing that. I love that yesterday was the fourth anniversary of my blog, ADHD Man of Distraction, and that I think someone should take me out to dinner to celebrate, or maybe I should take someone else out to celebrate.

Today I love coffee, the official drink of celebrating blogs. Also the official drink of being me, which is good, ’cause I love it. It just goes so well with quiet mornings and happy open mics and season changes and me.

Today I Love The Crescent Moon

Kelly Babcock

I was born in the city of Toronto in 1959, but moved when I was in my fourth year of life. I was raised and educated in a rural setting, growing up in a manner I like to refer to as free range. I live on the traditional lands of the Chippewas of Nawash in an area where my family history stretches back 6 or 7 generations and my First Nations friend's families go back hundreds of generations. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50 and have been both struggling with the new reality and using my discoveries to make my life better. I am a freelance writer and I write two blogs here at Psych Central, one about living with ADHD and one that is a daily positive affirmation that acts as an example of finding the good in as much of my life as I possibly can.
