Friendships: How to Go Deeper

Years ago, I was friends with a very sociable couple who liked to host dinner parties. After dessert, the hosts would lead us in game-playing. Usually, the games were just something they made up and were not very interesting.

I am not dissing the article. But, the problem for me is that I see two types of conversation, besides that for business. One is superficial and the other is deeper.

You want to know all my emotions, feelings, etc. that conversation is deep and very hard to get to. Yeah we went on vacation, the sites were great. The connections between us were nil, conversation was nil, intimacy was nil. Yes, the sites were great, worst vacation I ever had. Could have stayed home and done the same thing, except saved a bunch of money. Glad you asked?

Everything else is superficial and doesn’t really go anywhere. Hi, how is work, how’s the weather, did you about blah, blah, blah., Oh yeah, we went on vacation and we saw… Anyway, I think you get the picture.

So, I suppose that is my issue. Conversations are either white or black. I can mostly do the white, Black is virtually untouchable.

    Thank you
