    The notion of humans living “on their own” is a recent contrivance of the Western world and it is contrary to what we know about how identity is formed and expressed and how survival has operated over the millenia of human history. I appreciate your thoughtful article.

    Another major reason is this generation lives in a paradox. At the same time they don’t want to own anything (no cars, I’ll get an Uber; no house, I’ll live with my parents) they also want to live at the same materialist level as their parents . No working hard for 10 years to own a home and nice things. I want them now but don’t want to pay for them. I am an over 30 millennial and this is what I see.
