One thought on “Paris Is For Solos

I visited Paris by myself back in 2007. I hadn’t planned on going alone, but since nobody else was interested I figured I’d rather go alone than not go at all. In the end I was glad I did because I had a wonderful time seeing the city at my own pace. There are so many museums and attractions in Paris that visitors can be overwhelmed, especially if you are with someone who doesn’t share the same interests. For example, I’m not a drinker so you can imagine if I’d tried to coordinate a trip to Paris with someone who loves wine. I loved getting off at random subways stops and walking the streets of the city, something most people scoffed at when I told them about my trip. That made me know that I’d made the right decision to travel alone.

Traveling by yourself is an adventure all it’s own. I’ve met more people on my solo travels than I have when I’ve had friends along. I think being by yourself actually lets you open up a bit, which in turn makes the process far less lonely than people might think. I still enjoy the trips I take with others (whom I’m travel compatible with), but I would never hesitate to see what excitement a trip has to offer by myself.
