    “transgender people (also called transsexuals)… Eeehhh…no!

    Transsexual is a smaller group in a larger transgender umbrella. These words are NOT synonyms for each other. A majority of transsexuals would prefer to be excluded from the queers’ transgender umbrella just like a majority of southern Europeans would resent being placed in the racial colored umbrella.

    This complete ignorance for a psych journal site is quite astonishing.

    From my perspective, I restrict these terms purely to the sexual relationship. Other than that, a person can value any other person without respect to any particular quality and without requiring a specific gender derived term. People love people – that is I believe a fact of life and a good thing. The transition to a sexual relationship falls into a completely different category and is not a necessary part of the process.
