Thank you so much for your informative and enlightening article. I fear death! I’m now a senior citizen and I’ve carried this awful fear with me since childhood. I don’t know what happened to me way back then that induced such a fear of death in me. At one time I wouldn’t go to funerals at all and was heavily critisised by others in the family for not doing so. However, in the last decade I have found the courage to attend some funerals which is a big step for me. I hate cemeteries and tombstones. I don’t watch movies about death either. I dislike conversations about death. The older I get the nearer to God am I but, if only I could believe that there is a better existance beyond the physical, I think it would give me strength to face the inevitable. It’s an awful way to live but I think I am trying to face my fears and be brave. Ultimately I cannot bare the thought of not existing… dreadful, dreadful, dreadful. What a way to live life I know but I’m absolutely certain that someone has literally put the fear of death in me when I was very young. I intend to save your article so that I can peruse it during times when I feel overwhelmed by my morbid thoughts. Once again thank you for addressing a subject which no one seems to want to. Yours is the only article on the subject of death that I have read. Blessings.
