Last week’s cartoon was about the spirit of gift-giving, and asks the question: is it better to give everyone on your Christmas list the same thing?
For any cartoon you enjoy, you’re invited to share it anyplace except Pinterest. (Pinterest grabs the whole image, which is not cool. Facebook just uses thumbnails, which IS cool.) And thank you for sharing every week on Facebook and Twitter.
This cartoon is about power, and who owns it. And who’s a victim. 🙂 That’s why I have such a good time doing my restaurant cartoons, and never get bored: because one of the things that makes me, at least, laugh, is an imbalance of power.
Although it may seem like restaurant customers have the upper hand – after all, they have the money, and even the ability to keep an eatery a viable business – the fact is, the wait staff, cook, etc, have the food….and that’s what we come for. And we all need that, every day. It would only take a day or so of hunger for anyone to declare that food is more important than money.
Extending this hypothesis to couples, traditionally men make more money (unfortunately), and more women than men cook, and handle the food. I’ve seen some interesting see-sawing when couples grapple with who’s on top and in control. 🙂
What’s your take on this question? And the takeaway point here is: I hope the waiter is a good kisser.
Next up: Looking for Mr Good-bar on Christmas.
