The media seems to believe that individuals, and personal needs, should be sacrificed for the good of others, regardless of any merit others may or may not have. Stanford offers some deep thoughts on the ethics of it all.
I’m not that deep, which is why I do cartoons, instead. But remember, the airlines tell us to put our own oxygen masks on first, before we can help others. And learned scholars have this to say:

- Look into the depths of your own soul and learn first to know yourself… Sigmund Freud
- Id, Ego, Superego — Freud, again
Ignore the mirror. You’re number one for a reason.
