Actually, a careful review and meta-analyses of the research on sex differences in jealousy about emotional and sexual infidelity speak against an actual difference. Both sexes find emotional infidelity worse, at least outside of the US. The reported differences from previous research seem to be mostly attributable to the way the questions were asked.

See: Harris, C. R. (2003). A review of sex differences in sexual jealousy, including self-report data, psychophysiological responses, interpersonal violence, and morbid jealousy. Personality and Social Psychology Review, 7(2), 102-128.
Carpenter, C. J. (2012). Meta-analyses of sex differences in responses to sexual versus emotional infidelity men and women are more similar than different. Psychology of Women Quarterly, 36(1), 25-37.

Interesting.Appreciate your attention to this. Certainly how someone asks a question can have a big impact on the answer.
