This blog article falls right in line with the Adult Children of Alcoholics Laundry List. If you grew up in an alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional family, I urge you to Google the list and see if it applies to you. I have been part of ACA for almost 2 years and it has significantly helped me overcome the Hero child coping mechanisms I developed in my alcoholic and dysfunctional family. ACA won’t replace therapy, but it is a good place to start to get answers about why you are the way you are.

Yes. The roles I wrote about are from the literature about alcoholism and family dynamics.
Adult Children of Alcoholism (ACA) is a very valuable resource. I was just talking to a friend of mine who just got connected with ACA in mid life and she is so relieved. I will put this on the blog because I want people to know about this resource. Thank you for your valuable input.

        Cherilynn,
thank you for spreading awareness about ACA. It isn’t a fix all, but I have personally experienced the positive effects of the program. I feel like it is an under-utilized resource, and see so many people who may benefit from it.
