One of the most disturbing things coming out of our current right wing ultra-conservative Christian movement is how truly anti-Christian the belief structure is proving itself to be. Anti Semetic, anti homosexual, anti Muslim, anti immigrant are not the beliefs Jesus espoused and taught when he walked the earth. He treated women equally, spoke respectfully and inclusively to all including women and people outside the Jewish faith often breaking with Jewish rules and traditions. He even showed disdain and even anger towards the religion of his time.

One of the most notable miracles of Jesus was healing the sick and yet the conservative movement fights medical insurance for those who cannot afford it. They are righteously against abortion but scorn single, pregnant mothers and do not hold their boys and men accountable for her state. They seem to regard sexual assult of women as an action she invited, rough housing, locker room talk or boyhood exploits.

The hypocrisy of Christian individuals who can often quote large portions of the bible, who devote long hours of studying the lessons of Jesus, and have incorporated church into their daily lives is truly alarming. Christianity is not a religion based on aggression and caliphates; it is a religion based on love and acceptance, forgiveness and seperating the sin from the sinner.

I must respectfully disagree with the author as I do not see religious group think as a rational for the outrageous and hateful behaviors we are experiencing with the U.S.
