    I guess people are just trying to be caring but is just not always helpful.

    I’ve definitely heard all of those things during a panic attack. Another one that bothers me is “Don’t worry, you’re not going to die..” Although I might be worried that I’m dying, I don’t need you to tell me that I’m not going to die. In fact, hearing you say the word “die” makes it seem more real and likely to happen. And I usually just respond with “how do you know I’m not dying?!” The most comforting and reassuring thing I can hear when I’m freaking out is “Everything is going to be okay, I’m here for you.” There’s just something about that phrase that sends a wave of peace over me.
