Hi Janet. I love your blog and I think we have talked via your blog before. My daughter developed OCD and we believe it was P.A.N.D.A.S. because she had strep throat about 3 weeks before the onset and it came on all of a sudden. She also had a bit of a traumatic experience with my son’s home birth but that was 6 months before. So it is hard to know and maybe it was a good combination, the trauma from the birth started it and the strep ramped it up.

I don’t know but I thought I would mention it as another possibility.
Thanks for all your OCD work.

Hi Don, So nice to hear from you, and I hope everyone in your family is doing well! You bring up a very important subject: PANDAS, which I didn’t even touch upon in this post. This autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorder associated with strep does seem to be the cause of OCD in some children. And you bring up an interesting question……”Could the combination of trauma and infection be the cause of some children’s OCD?” I have no answers but hopefully someday soon someone will. Thanks for sharing and “I hope to hear from you again soon!
