I grew up abused verbally and physically by a mentally ill mother, no father around, in a tenement house where snow came in through a crack in the wall….No phone, car, refrigerator, tub or shower; molested by a drunken neighbor. Joined the army right out of high school (high adventure from a little town in Maine toSan Francisco at the height of the Vietnam war, peace, Summer-of-Love, Etc)…Married an abuser and got a divorce after 31 years of abuse, then my church voted me out of membership, with my name up on a big screen, followed by the words, “Conduct Unbecoming a Child of God.” I used my life story and won a scholarship; started schoolat age 60 and am a Sophomore at 72! I overcame it all…..I have written my memoir (Ghost Child to Triumph) and a poetry book, Sanctuary of the Soul; my endorsements are humbling…a few: Elie Wiesel, Wayne Dyer, Nikki Giovanni, Dr. Alice Miller.
