I am really happy that I read this article. I am in my late forties and I was raised in a misogynistic way. I have fought against this way of life my whole life, but not without feeling guilty and bad in some way. I love the way you described it so well so as to not have any question about what misogyny is. I went most of my life cutting my hair off in defiance of men. I am now widowed and learning who I am. I have a little boy whom I do not want to raise to be a misogynistic narcissist like his father! This may sound harsh but I thank God for allowing us to be free of any kind brow beating or ridicule. Thank you for speaking out! Tina

Was your family involved with fundamentalist catholic cult known as SSPX?

No, we were Protestants. I’ve never heard of SSPX. Please, tell me more! We need to write and talk about cults more.

There is misogyny and there is also abusive behavior using entitlement and Power and Control tactics. In other words, I am entitled to get what I want and to use Power & Control tactics to get what I want. I think much of what you experienced is abusive behavior. I think misogyny is also such a part of our society in more subtle ways like the fact we have never had a woman President in this country and are only now electing more women to office.

Glad you have found your voice and strength!

Assert yourself. The hell with anyone (male) who’s offended.
