    Thank you for the article!
In my case, it was in a different way. My mother never slut-shamed me and tried to dress me as good as possible so I will make a good impression. But she always made me feel I have got a bad taste, waste money and must rely on others as on my stylists. The competition was “Who can dress Natalie better: Natalie herself or her mother”. Now I am learning to trust my vision and to make own decisions concerning my style.

I experienced a lot of this my whole life. My mother was even the one paying for my wedding dress, but I ended up wearing her pick any way. If I lose weight, she acts very excited to my face, begs to know the size… then swears there’s no way. She then puts on my new six 6 pants and since they don’t fit her, I am then told to put the weight back on, I look sickly….. but, I did not look bad, I looked beautiful and was the size my mother had slays been. My NPD mother still controls much about my life, I hate it!!! But to make her stop, set boundaries is met with horrible consequences….. and she never lets go of any past argument.

    Hi Lenora,

Congratulations on treating yourself to some new clothing. It always feels good to clean out the old closet (figuratively and literally) lol

I’m also just weeding out some of my old shapeless clothes which have stains from cooking too. I’m a plus size lady so I need to pay a bit of attention to my clothing otherwise I can tend to look sloppy. Never had nice clothes growing up so I really appreciate the fact that clothing is so readily available and affordable these days.

Hope you enjoy your new wardrobe:-)
