One thought on “Therapy #5: I Expect A Smart-Ass Answer From You

I call my emotional stoppage, ” emotional constipation”. I was told never to get angry, never to smile in pictures(or anywhere else), and to laugh at all of my mommy dearests jokes( which were always at someone elses expense). The two siblings were encouraged to participate in the abuse, so I learned I couldn’t trust anyone. Recently, one of my siblings actually looked up my best friend from high school( I had blocked her on mine), and under the guise of “reconnecting” the two of us- ” The two of you were like peanut butter and jelly”, went on a rant in capital letters about stuff that happened over fifty years ago! THEN, she insisted that I was a horrible, terrible person because I would not tell her that I loved her. I left that home not trusting anything I felt, thought or saw from people. The difference this time was that I recognized the whole manipulative, sick, sociopathic scenario. I didn’t argue, plead or buckle. I simply in “nice” terms, told her to go to hell. Boy! Did that ever feel good! I think I will trust that one……
